Career opportunities with Citizens Advice Caerphilly Blaenau Gwent
The largest Citizens Advice service in Wales
Working with us means you will be joining the largest Citizens Advice service in Wales and one of the largest in the Citizens Advice network.
We are an organisation that has a voice and influences policy development. We help millions of people each year and have a direct impact on a person’s well-being.
In 2000 when we launched the service, we had a handful of paid staff and a team of dedicated volunteers providing a service for Caerphilly.
We have extended our reach and have a paid and unpaid workforce of around 200 who offer a full range of services throughout Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent.
We also offer telephone and digital advice services across the whole of England and Wales.
During 2020 alone, we recruited more than 70 paid and unpaid people to the teams, to help meet the demand for advice. And we continue to grow.
We have a wide range of roles in our advice services, at our Caerphilly Contact Centre and in support services such as administration and finance.
Our volunteers and staff are the secret to our success. They have helped tens of thousands of people solve a range of problems since 2000. We make sure they feel valued.
Wellbeing is a priority for us and joining us means you could enjoy the benefits of a full and comprehensive training and development programme, flexible working (subject to service needs) and access to an Employee Assistance Scheme.
You can also access discounts at high street and local shops.
This is what some of our staff say about working with us a CACBG…
Administrator Ruth Headon said: “The thing I like about working for CACBG is our team. I love the way all our different personalities and ages work together. We all bring something different but are supportive and work effectively.”
Communications Officer Emma Gray said: “Despite joining during a pandemic and working from home, I feel welcomed, valued and supported by all the teams. Building relationships hasn’t been a problem. The technology is in place to get to know everyone, albeit virtually. I am struck by how connected all the staff and volunteers feel despite the challenges posed by Covid.”
Specialist Welfare Benefits Adviser Ian Jenkins said: “I started my journey here at the Contact Centre in Caerphilly before moving to the Debt Team at the Bargoed office. I enjoy working as part of a supportive team doing work that really makes a difference to the lives of our clients.”
Kieron MahonyOutreach Adviser joined us after working in the public sector for almost four decades. He said: “Following almost 40 years of public service in a national context, I have forged another career in the third sector. I enjoy working with like-minded people in a role which is challenging, worthwhile and rewarding. My job allows me to give something back to the community in which I live.”
Help to Claim Adviser Claire Lovell said: “I joined Citizens Advice in October of 2020 as an administrator. As I wanted to get to know more about being an adviser, I trained as a volunteer adviser in my spare time. The knowledge and skills I gained volunteering benefited me when the Help to Claim role became vacant. CACBG is a great company to work for and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far. The organisation really looks after the paid and unpaid staff and there are lots of opportunities if you want to progress in the company.”
