The Core Service (our drop-in appointments are currently suspended due to Covid restrictions).
Anyone who needs advice can call in to our offices in Bargoed, Risca or Blaina. They will be seen quickly and offered a short interview so we can find out what the problem is and help them decide what their best next step is. That may be giving them the information and support they need to sort out the issue themselves, referring them on to another agency or a solicitor, or making an appointment for them to return and discuss their issue in more depth. During Lockdown we have delivered a telephone and a virtual service via webchat and other video technology to keep advice channels open.
Advicelink Cymru – Specialist Debt and Welfare Benefits Advice
We have a team of specialist advisers working across Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent who provide information on Welfare Benefits. They use their specialist knowledge to help make sure that people are receiving the financial support they are entitled to. Advisers also have the skills and expertise to help people set a realistic budget and come to agreements with creditors over repayments. They can advise on bankruptcy and help apply for Debt Relief Orders.
Advicelink Cymru – General Outreach Advice Service
We have a team of expert advisors who can offer information on a range of issues at a number of community venues across the region. We run these services with our partners to bring the advice into the heart of local communities. Our advisers will listen to the problem and offer advice when they can. If they do not have the expertise to offer advice they will look at what options are available and assess which are the best steps to take.

A team at our Caerphilly Contact Centre deliver the UK-wide Witness Service. This sees advisers supporting victims and witnesses who are required to attend court. Help to Claim
From our Bargoed (currently remote due to Covid) we deliver a UK-wide service to help people understand the benefit system and identify what financial support they are entitled to. Advisers can help someone make an initial application for benefits, carry out a benefits’ check to see if they are receiving their full entitlement and advise on challenging decisions that they don’t agree with.
